HBSSPAN - WonderKid Wednesday

Every month we will be celebrating the success and achievement of our wonderful pupils in the Hinckley and Bosworth School Sport Network through our WonderKid Wednesday initiative.

Our very first WonderKid is Gracie from Millfield LEAD Academy, her story is a fantastic example of where sport can really change a persons outlook on school life. One of the Sports Reporters at Millfield wrote the below on Gracie:

Gracie is a girl in year 6 who has recently been going through a very tricky time coming to school. Her school has been trying very hard to get her into school on time every day. One day school had a brilliant idea that they could get the PE teacher to try and get Gracie into doing some sports activities such as Gymnastics , Parallel Sports Hall Athletics and she did Prestwold Hall FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER ! She did absolutely brilliantly- even though she came last she finished it and was very proud of herself at the end! When she finished the Parallel Sports Hall Athletics she found out she and three of her team mates had qualified to go to the County All Stars! She has been to two Gymnastics competitions which were Family Four and the Hinckley and Bosworth final and that's where the best of all the teams from the other families came together to find the overall winners ! Gracie's team came first in the inclusive competition and now they will go to the county finals in March. Now after all of this work school has put in Gracie has had the confidence to become a sports leader, and best of all she has been coming to school on time every day!

I think we can all agree Gracie is definitely fully deserving of our first WonderKid Wednesday!! A huge thank you to Mrs Goreman and all the staff at Millfield LEAD Academy for letting us know.

If you have a story or achievement that you'd to tell, then we would love to hear from you! Email: awells@bosworthacademy.org.uk
