Leicester-shire & Rutland School Games Summer Championships

Over the past couple of months local Hinckley and Bosworth schools have been battling it out with other winning schools in the Leicetsershire and Rutland area in a variety of events and sports to qualify for this years School Games Summer Championships.

13 teams from Hinckley and Bosworth schools qualified and will be representing Hinckley and Bosworth SSPAN on the day including; Elizabeth Woodville, Kirby Muxloe, Burbage Juniors, Lady Jane Grey, Dixie, Thornton and Newbold Verdon. These teams will be competing in the following events; Gymnastics (Key steps 1,2&3 Mixed), Swimming (Y5/6 Mixed), High 5 Netball (Y5/6 Mixed), Quicksticks Hockey (Y4/5 Mixed), Mini Tennis Red (Y3/4 Mixed), Basketball (Y5/6 Mixed), Tri-Golf (Y3/4 & 5/6 Mixed), Quadkids Athletics (Y3/4 & Y5/6 Mixed) and Girls Football (Y5/6 Girls).

The results and winners will be presented at the closing ceremony. Trophies for each competition will be up for grabs and the overall School Sports Champions will be awarded. In addition there will also be a 'Spirt of the Games' award, in which each compeition manager will be asked to award one partnership team for their individual sport compeition. This will be awarded to those who show the School Games Values throughout the competition; Determination, Honesty, Passion, Respect, Self-Belief and Teamwork. Buliding on the 2012 London Olympic/Paralympic Games.

Hinckley and Bosworth were the overall School Games Champions last year and with the determination and inspiration already shown by 99 athletes entering we hope to maintain that title. All Hinckley and Bosworth Schools will be sporting dark green t-shirts and parents and spectators are encouraged to come along to support the teams and cheer them along.
