What is Exercise Referral?
Exercise referral schemes are when your GP may refer you to an organised exercise scheme as a treatment for a range of conditions. According to where you live your referral will be sent to one of our Exercise Referral Instructors to contact you to discuss your needs.
The process involves an initial assessment and an invitation for an induction to the gym at either Hinckley Leisure Centre or Sport in Desford (there is a small charge for attending the sessions). Following this, a exercise programme tailored to individual needs and goals is set, as well as monitoring and support throughout the programme.
Exercise Referral programmes last 12 weeks. They are led by qualified exercise professionals who create a safe, effective and personalised physical activity programme. Exercise Referral is available to people aged 16 years and over with an existing health condition that could be improved by physical activity.
What happens after 12 weeks?
After 12 weeks your instructor will discuss with you what options are available to you, this could be taking out membership at either of the gym locations or accessing other activity opportunities throughout the borough.
